Maison Chic Magazine

A couple of months ago I was running around like crazy

painting, organizing, re-doing and decorating...

I had someone special coming to my house for a visit and I had lots to do to get ready.

Just a couple weeks earlier~
the editor of Lotus Publications in Europe emailed me about publishing
 photos of my dining room and home. We emailed back and forth several times
 and then she offered to send Mark Lohman to my home to take photos for her magazines.

Oh my gosh~ I was absolutely thrilled!
I was already familiar with Mark and all the work that he does with so many fantastic magazines,
 books  and publications - he is an amazing photographer.

You might know him best as Fifi O'Neill's number one go to photographer.

After Mark and I talked on the phone

we decided which rooms to focus on and went over what 'look' or styling for the rooms
 the magazine was looking for in this shoot and then I got busy.

I  changed a few things around the house to create the 'look' they wanted
and then re-thought everything I changed about 50 times
which caused me to change it again
and then I re-thought those changes again...
 well,
 you get the drift.

Not to mention those pretty sparkly chandeliers for the dining room that were ordered
in plenty of time were delayed.
Not just delayed...
They were Delayed -delayed. 
 They actually arrived just a couple days before Mark did.

Getting everything ready for the photos as well as working on meeting the other deadlines I had...

well, I have to admit that I became a wee bit crazy.

You see, the magazine wasn't sending Mark along with a professional stylist ~

it was just the two of us working together.
As well, it wasn't just one room that needed to be, styled and photo ready~

it was several rooms at one time.

Having never done anything like that before...

I was just a wee bit looney toons...

;)
But once Mark arrived, I started to relax a bit.

He walked through the house and instantly picked out all the
vignettes and angles he planned to work with. He seemed to know exactly what photos
he thought the magazine would like and what we would focus on photographing.

About midway through the day- we took a break for sandwiches
( made with the fresh bread that was the photo prop in the kitchen~ it was delicious!)
and then we sat for a bit to chat outside on the patio.

The day was absolutely so much fun and I learned so much from working with Mark
 From the styling tips he has picked up from the pro's he's worked with,
to photography tips and camera settings,
 to talks about family and  life in general
He is so sweet and fun to work with and he made this amazing day even better.

I don't have copies of the magazines yet.. I am crazy anxiously awaiting their arrival

but I was sent a couple page previews and was told the article is 22 pages and that it will be published
 in Casa Chic in Italy,  in Maison Chic in France and in Germany as well.


Wow!!!


They also sent over a preview of their
Italian Casa Chic magazine cover a couple weeks ago

 Oh.my.gosh.

 This is such a dream come true for me and part of me cannot believe it even now.

I truly feel so incredibly honored and I cannot say thank you enough
to Lotus Publishing and to Mark Lohman  for such an absolutely amazing  experience.
I'll share more when the magazines arrive!
