PUMPKINS & ROSES

What is it about little white pumpkins...

& delicate dainty roses?

A teeny tiny pale cutie...

or maybe several of them
nestled up to a bouquet of pink & pale peach roses

just beautiful.

I love Autumn.
It's earthy colors, falling leaves, pumpkins
and warm days and cool nights.
But truth be told...
oranges and rusty reds are not my favorite colors
for the season.

I love bold pinks, pale peaches, creamy whites & vibrant lime greens.
With sweet white pumpkins and shabby old paint...

I'm smitten.

This weathered potting stand was a yard sale find several years back
This is just how it looked when I picked it up-
minus lots of dirt and cobwebs.

It was inside an old shed & when I pulled it out
and saw it's dreamy chippy paint...
well let's just say I couldn't get my $20.00 out fast enough.

The paint appears to be decades old
It's worn. It's faded.
It's missing more in some areas than it has left...

It's perfect.

So excited to share a couple projects coming up-
one of which involves chalk paint!
Whoo whoo!!
Thank you to Robyn Story Designs for sending some my way!

See you Thursday for Feathered Nest Friday!

AUTUMN VIGNETTE

Just a simple Fall vignette...

It all started with an old crusty potting table
from my grandfathers house

I love that he probably made this to use in his workshop a long time ago
It was sitting out behind the garage all lonesome looking...
I find it's shabby peeling paint and warbled pieces of wood charming.

A few white pumpkins

a tiny bouquet of tiny pink roses
and a little candle light

Loving the pears-
they fell from the pear tree this morning
ripe and ready to eat

The designs on these little silver plates are so delicate and pretty
I love to use them in a table setting or displayed on the wall
and they are pieces I always keep an eye out for while junking.

The weather changed from cold and rainy just a few days ago
to warm and sunny again today.
It's absolutely wonderful weather for enjoying the outdoors
and perfect for those cozy nights outside by the fire.

I wanted to say thank you so very much to all of you
for your sweet comments here
& on FB about Romantic Homes magazine.
Your kindness and support of my blog means so much to me.
~

It's been a busy few days and I haven't notched off too many big projects.
but I do have a few exciting things coming up
as well a fantastic giveaway in the works
so stay tuned!
:)

See you tonight for Feathered Nest Friday!

White Pumpkins Mantel

Dainty little white pumpkins

yep,
it's official...

Love them.

These baby white pumpkins were too cute to leave at the grocery store
and so a basket full of them came home with me.
It was around $10.00 for all of them.

I played around with the Living room mantel today...
and those pumpkins all gathered together are so charming.

A pair of wooden lanterns glow softly with candlelight-
perfect for chilly fall nights by the fire.

The reproduction French zinc mirror was a
clearance find at Home Goods.
Love the chalky gray weathered finish.

I am sure I will be tweaking this ... I put it together in a hurry on little sleep.
Last evening we went to see the San Francisco Opera's production of Turandot.
It was absolutely amazing.
'Nessun Dorma' is one of my favorite songs and watching it performed
gave me goosebumps.
You know the performance is fantastic when that happens.

Anything Puccini is my favorite and though we had seen Turandot before-
there is nothing quite like the S.F. Opera House
and the caliber of talent they bring to their productions.

autumn visitors

Now I know we really live in the country, just look who
decided to hibernate outside my front door!

A single mum hedgehog plus four offspring!

Vive les herissons!

PS  In answer to your comments, yes, these are my pictures.  These baby hedgehogs are incredibly approachable.   They move quite slowly, and they didn't mind me picking them up - I wore gloves -  for the sake of a photo.  It's all gone quiet now, after a few days snuffling around and settling down, I think they've finally gone to sleep!
