Those of you who have read my blog for awhile might remember this armoire and the story behind it.
I shared this and the other pieces last year.
Several of these pieces have changed spots in the house so I'm sharing them again.
This armoire is part of a set of furniture that I purchased on craigslist
Right now- it is in our little sitting room which is being painted and refreshed as we speak
but I snapped a few photos before it was moved.
but I snapped a few photos before it was moved.
A dresser with 6 drawers,
2 mirrors reminiscent of Beauty and the Beast,
2 nightstands that are dainty and sweet
and this amazing armoire
the set was $400
There was also a bed that I did not purchase.
Don't yell at me- I know I should have just gotten it
but it simply didn't talk to me like the other pieces did and I didn't want to bring home
a piece that I wasn't going to use.
The pieces are all hand painted and signed and are from Italy
from around the 1950's.
The armoire stands over 8' tall -
and is covered in beautiful floral sprays and detailed mouldings.
Molded shell handles,
covered in details
swirls, carvings, gorgeous Frenchy paint and rococo stylings...
Can I just say that I was in love?
So just where would a beautiful elegant piece of furniture like this go
in an old knotty pine paneled 1940 cottage?
It belongs in a large elegant home with lots and lots of formal rooms
and yards of expensive drapery puddling around it on the polished marble floors.
Well I have never been one to follow rules especially when it comes to decorating.
(yeah...a wee bit of a rebel over here)
The armoire found a home in my little sitting area and it fits
in perfectly with the painted knotty pine walls, shabby white paint,
and old hardwood floors.
It brings a little regal elegance to our cottage-
the rustic with the refined...
a perfect mix.
:)
The next couple weeks are crazy busy for me
I have company coming in from out of town at the end of the month
and a lot of projects big & small just simply NEED to get wrapped up at this point.

The good news is that the projects will be future blog posts!
;)
;)
I also have a couple room reveals coming up very soon...
I just need to find the time to put the finishing touches on and take some photos.
Happy Monday!
